A development built around mud-brick heritage still needs to treat 42 million litres of wastewater a day. The plant could not announce itself — footprint, height and odour were design constraints before capacity was.
Design, engineering, supply, installation and operation are normally five procurements with five interfaces. On a constrained site each interface is a place where the process technology, the civil works and the operating plan can drift apart — and the client owns the gap.
Food Chain Reactor technology was selected at design and carried through to operation by the same company, so the process choice and the operating reality were never negotiated across a contract boundary.
